About Us
Star and Gary are a Canadian husband-and-wife team of native English speakers certified as Master Level TEFL-TESOL teachers. They consider their students to be part of their family.
After their first visit to China in early 2016, they fell in love with the country and its people. Each time they returned, their affection for China deepened. They appreciate its rich history, vibrant culture, the striking contrasts between ancient and ultra-modern elements, the delicious food, and the sense of adventure. However, what they cherish most are the kind, generous, and hospitable people they have encountered, who never fail to bring joy to their travels.
Over time, they have formed many wonderful and lasting friendships. Witnessing the stark contrasts between great wealth and severe poverty ignited a desire in them to help underprivileged children. They realized that supporting a poor rural school would be a meaningful way to make a difference. By late 2016, they founded their Secret Santa China project and their mission to help had begun, driven by their belief that it was their responsibility as humans to share love and give back to those in need.
Due to their new volunteer project, it was essential for them to become certified TEFL-TESOL teachers, which allowed them to enhance their English language teaching skills. This improvement greatly benefited the children in grades 1-6 at Yang Guang (Sunshine) Primary School, located near Shijiazhuang.
Visits to the school were entirely voluntary and heartfelt; they sought no financial return.

- As an internationally popular author of the beloved children's book series, Willow's Magical Life With Animals, Star has earned admiration for her skillful blending of fiction and nonfiction, incorporating numerous positive messages. As an animal energy healer, she shares her experience to create captivating stories that deeply connect with her audience.
- In the last five years before her retirement, Star owned and operated her successful business, Your Cat Nanny Sitting Service.
- For over 16 years, Star served as a Judicial Assistant at the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
Gary's Career Background:
- 40 years - Successful self-employed businessman in the automotive industry.
